Odaiba Marine Park Beach

The Odaiba Marine Park is one of the most unusual outdoor spaces in Tokyo: an artificial urban beach in the bay, flanked by the Rainbow Bridge, with direct views of the city skyline and the emblematic replica of the Statue of Liberty. The statue —installed in 1998 to celebrate the "French Year in Japan" and declared permanent in the year 2000— has become one of the most photogenic spots in Tokyo, especially at sunset when the light gilds the bridge in the background. The walk through the park is completely free. Although swimming in the sea is not allowed, you can sit on the sand, take photos, picnic or simply enjoy the scenery and the sea breeze, something unusual in a megalopolis like Tokyo. The grounds are about 5 minutes' walk from Odaiba-Kaihinkoen station (Yurikamome line). To make the most of the day, combine it with DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, the Rainbow Bridge and the Odaiba aquarium. The best time for photography is at sunset, when the colours of the sky reflect on the water and the bridge is framed in golden light.
