Learn to prepare nigiri and maki with a guide and taste your pieces at the end; class from around 4.000 ¥.

Learning to make sushi in Kyoto is one of the most rewarding gastronomic experiences to take home. In this class, with all the materials and ingredients included, an instructor guides you step by step to prepare nigiri and maki rolls: how to cook and season the rice, handle the fish and shape the pieces with the correct technique. The session is hands-on and fun, suitable for beginners, and at the end you sit down to taste your own creations. The class lasts between an hour and a half and two hours and starts at around 4.000 ¥ depending on the menu and the number of pieces. Many sessions are given in English and held in small groups, so it is advisable to book the slot in advance. It is an ideal activity for couples, families and groups of friends, and a good plan for rainy days. It is in the centre of Kyoto, easy to combine with a stroll around Nishiki, Pontocho or Gion before or after the class.
