A 600-metre covered pedestrian street with shops, food and souvenirs in the centre of Hiroshima; free access.

Hondori is the most important shopping artery of Hiroshima, a covered pedestrian street 600 metres long that crosses the city centre between the Kamiyacho and Hatchobori tram stops. With more than 200 shops, restaurants and street-food stalls, it is the ideal place to buy Hiroshima souvenirs —momiji manju, maple-shaped filled cakes, the city's most typical sweet—, try local food at the stalls in the indoor arcade and stroll at a leisurely pace. Along Hondori and its perpendicular streets you will find everything from large fashion chains to small craft shops, stationers with origami materials and shops selling local sake and liquors. The arcade is especially lively at weekends. The atmosphere goes on until 21:00-22:00. It is reached by tram directly to Kamiyacho (lines 1, 2 and 6). A compulsory stop before taking the train or tram back to your accommodation.
